Livinus Chibuike Victor: You Can Target me, But You Cannot Silence the Truth

There comes a point in a nation’s trajectory where silence is no longer an option it becomes complicity. For months, I have faced a relentless campaign of intimidation, arbitrary harassment, and targeted lawlessness designed to achieve a single goal: absolute, forced silence. But let me be unequivocally clear to those pulling the strings: no amount of coercion, state-backed intimidation, or fearmongering will ever stop me from speaking the truth or holding power accountable.

What we are witnessing is not a breakdown of law and order; it is the deliberate, brazen weaponization of state power. It is profoundly disheartening to watch law enforcement agencies and institutions built to safeguard citizens, degrade themselves into tools for corrupt politicians desperate to suppress press freedom at all costs.

The events of May 1st, 2026, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport didn’t happen by chance, its was planned and carefully executed. The threatening emails and calls cant weaken my spirit, I didn’t chose journalism as a career for nothing, I was more than ready for all I have been through in the past 10 years of my career.

The illegal detention, the heavy-handed intimidation at a public transit hub, and the subsequent, relentless visits to my home and office in attempt after attempt to re-arrest me are meant to break my spirit and serve as a warning to anyone daring to ask uncomfortable questions.
Instead, these desperate tactics reveal only the deep insecurity of those in authority.

When officers regularly stalk a journalist’s doorstep and invade their workplace over words and facts, it shows a power operating on fear, not legitimacy. Power that relies on handcuffs and hallway ambushes to maintain its narrative has already lost the argument.

Press freedom is not a privilege granted by politicians to be revoked at their convenience; it is the bedrock of any functioning society. When journalism is treated as a crime, it is not the reporter who is on trial, it is the integrity of the nation itself.
To those sending state agents to my doorstep, my office, and airport gates: save your efforts.

You can stalk my home, you can target my office, and you can abuse your power at our borders, but you cannot incarcerate an idea whose time has come. The truth does not yield to intimidation, and neither will

I will continue to investigate, i will continue to publish, and collectively will continue to demand accountability. Because a press that cowers in the face of tyranny is no press at all.
