Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has condemned a reported violent attack on Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), in Ekiti State, calling on security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure his safety.
Adeyanju disclosed this in a statement after receiving information about the alleged attack from one of Sowore’s aides.
He expressed concern over reports that a police officer attached to the AAC presidential candidate was disarmed during the incident, describing the development as an act of violence and political intimidation.
The lawyer strongly condemned the reported incident, insisting that violence and intimidation have no place in a democratic society.

He called on relevant security agencies to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack, protect Sowore and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.
Adeyanju stressed the importance of safeguarding political actors and upholding democratic principles, particularly as Nigeria continues to navigate its political process.
The reported attack has also raised concerns about the safety of political figures and the responsibility of security agencies to protect individuals against violence and intimidation.
Adeyanju signed the statement, urging authorities to take immediate action to prevent further threats to Sowore’s safety.
