The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has vowed that those responsible for the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar will be brought to justice, following a condolence visit by a senior military delegation to his family and the Katsina State Government.

A high-level delegation led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, visited Katsina State on Sunday on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to commiserate with the family over the loss of the senior retired officer.

During a visit to the late General’s residence in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi described the deceased as a committed and patriotic officer who served Nigeria with distinction for over three decades in various capacities within the Nigerian Army.

He noted that Major General Abubakar’s military career was marked by dedication, sacrifice, and professionalism, adding that his legacy would continue to inspire serving officers and personnel of the Armed Forces.

He further assured the family that the military, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, would ensure that those behind the death of the retired General are identified, apprehended, and prosecuted.

As part of the condolence visit, the delegation presented a national flag to the family in honour of the late officer’s service to the nation.

Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces for their support during the period of mourning.

He said the family and people of Batsari Local Government Area appreciated the show of solidarity, describing death as an inevitable reality while praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.

The delegation also visited the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by Deputy Governor Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe, who represented Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

Major General Abdullahi conveyed the condolences of the CDS and the Armed Forces to the state government and people of Katsina over the loss of one of its distinguished sons.

In his response, the Deputy Governor described the late Major General as a patriot whose service to the nation would remain a source of inspiration, while calling for stronger collaboration to address insecurity in Katsina State and across Nigeria.

He assured continued state support for military operations aimed at restoring peace in the North-West region.

The military delegation commended the Katsina State Government for its ongoing cooperation in security operations, stressing that sustained collaboration remains key to defeating terrorism and other security threats.

Prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the late Major General Abubakar during both visits.

Members of the delegation included senior military officers and retired service chiefs, alongside traditional rulers and prominent indigenes of Katsina State.
