The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables by two weeks following an overwhelming nationwide response.

The recruitment portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Commission.

In the statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, the PSC disclosed that more than 400,000 applications have been received so far. However, an assessment of the submissions revealed notable disparities in participation across various states of the federation.

While states such as Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded high application numbers, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra reported significantly lower figures.
The Commission explained that the extension was granted to promote equitable representation from all states in the recruitment exercise.

Consequently, the PSC and the NPF urged all eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with lower application rates, to utilise the extended window to apply through the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

The Commission also called on state governments, local government councils, socio-cultural organisations, religious institutions, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders to intensify mobilisation and sensitisation efforts to encourage qualified youths to participate before the new deadline.

The PSC and the Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed their commitment to a fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment process, assuring applicants that all submissions will be handled strictly in accordance with established guidelines.
