Abuja, Nigeria. The National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) has commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, for commissioning the ultra-modern Arise Senior Citizens Centre, describing the initiative as a major step toward improving the welfare and dignity of older persons.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the NSCC congratulated the state government for establishing the facility, which is designed to provide senior citizens with access to essential services, support systems, and social engagement opportunities.

According to the Centre, the project reflects the Akwa Ibom State Government’s commitment to promoting the wellbeing, dignity, and social inclusion of elderly citizens.

The organisation noted that older persons continue to make valuable contributions to society and deserve policies and programmes that support active and healthy ageing.

The NSCC further applauded the leadership of Governor Eno for recognising the importance of dedicated facilities that cater to the needs of senior citizens.

It expressed optimism that the Arise Senior Citizens Centre will serve as a hub for programmes that promote active ageing, social interaction, and improved quality of life for older persons across the state.

The Centre also reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the Akwa Ibom State Government to ensure that the facility delivers sustainable benefits for senior citizens.
The statement was signed by Abdulfatai Otori, Head of Corporate Affairs, Media and Communications at the National Senior Citizens Centre.
