Nigeria and Angola have signed a bilateral agreement waiving visa requirements for holders of Diplomatic and Official passports, in a move aimed at strengthening official engagements between both countries.

This was contained in a statement signed and confirmed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the statement, the agreement was signed on Sunday, February 15, 2026, on the sidelines of the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union in Addis Ababa.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, signed on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while Angola’s Minister of External Relations, Tete Antonio, signed for the Republic of Angola.

Under the agreement, holders of Diplomatic and Official/Service passports from both countries will no longer require visas for official travel. The move is expected to reduce administrative bottlenecks and facilitate smoother government-to-government interactions.

Officials say the development aligns with ongoing continental efforts to enhance mobility, deepen institutional cooperation, and advance Africa’s broader integration agenda.
