KATSINA — Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued traders abducted by terrorists along the Funtua–Faskari axis of Katsina State.
The troops were alerted after terrorists intercepted a commercial vehicle carrying traders and forced the occupants into a nearby bush.
Responding swiftly to the distress call, the troops pursued the attackers and engaged them in a firefight.
The pressure forced the terrorists to retreat deeper into the forest, abandoning their captives in the process.
The rescued traders were found unharmed and subsequently escorted to Sheme Market, where they were reunited with members of their communities.
In a separate operation, troops deployed in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area intercepted a stolen gold-coloured Toyota Corolla along the Katsina–Dutsin-Ma highway.
The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence and in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
Two suspects, identified as 28-year-old Abdulmalik Haruna and 44-year-old Mohammed Kabir, were arrested at the scene.
The suspects and the recovered vehicle were handed over to the Police at the Dutsin-Ma Division for further investigation and possible legal action.
The operations highlight ongoing efforts by security forces to disrupt terrorist activities, protect civilians and recover stolen property across Katsina State.
