IWD 2026: Standup for Women Society President Urges Investment in Women’s Growth

The International President of the Standup for Women Society (SWS), Deborah A. Ijadele-Adetona, has called for stronger collaboration, mentorship, and support systems among women as the world marks International Women’s Day.


In a message commemorating the global event, Ijadele-Adetona extended greetings to women and members of the organisation across the world, describing the occasion as both a celebration of women’s achievements and a reminder of their resilience and contributions to society.


She noted that women continue to play vital roles in shaping families, communities, and nations, often overcoming significant barriers while contributing to social and economic development.


According to the SWS President, this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” highlights the importance of investing in women and girls through mentorship, opportunities, and collective support.


“When women support and uplift one another, the impact goes beyond individuals. Families thrive, communities grow stronger, and societies advance,” she stated.


Ijadele-Adetona reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting women’s empowerment, encouraging inclusive leadership, and strengthening networks that help women amplify their voices and influence positive change.


She also urged women to remain confident in their abilities and to continue supporting one another in personal and professional pursuits.


“Stand tall in your purpose, believe in your strength, and support another woman,” she said, adding that unity and solidarity among women remain key to creating opportunities for future generations.


The SWS President commended members of the organisation often referred to as “Liberators”for their continued efforts in advocating for women’s rights and promoting initiatives aimed at empowering women and girls globally.


She emphasized that sustained collaboration and commitment are necessary to build a society where every woman has the opportunity to succeed and contribute meaningfully to development.
