Troops of Sector 2 under Operation UDO KA, currently conducting Operation Eastern Sanity, have arrested a suspected top commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), during a coordinated raid in Ebonyi State.
The suspect, popularly known as “Calamity,” was apprehended alongside four other members of the group in the early hours of April 21, 2026, at their hideout in Nwofe, Izzi Local Government Area.
According to military authorities, the arrest followed credible intelligence linking the group to the killing of a police officer and the injury of another during an attack in Okuku-Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State on February 26, 2026. The attackers reportedly made away with two AK-47 rifles during the incident.

Security sources revealed that the suspects fled Delta State amid intensified operations and relocated to Ebonyi, where they established a new base to continue their activities.
During the raid, troops recovered several items including a black handbag containing five mobile phones, multiple keys, and a motorcycle believed to have been used for operations.
All five suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation, as security agencies intensify efforts to dismantle the wider criminal network and recover additional weapons.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support security efforts.
