Troops under Operation Enduring Peace have recorded a significant operational breakthrough following the neutralisation of two suspected bandits during a coordinated ambush in Plateau State.
The operation, carried out on April 21, 2026, was based on credible intelligence indicating the movement of armed criminals around the Marit axis of Doruwa Babuje. Acting on the tip-off, troops strategically positioned themselves and engaged the suspects in a firefight.
Two of the suspected bandits were killed during the exchange, while others fled the scene with possible injuries. Security operatives recovered a locally fabricated rifle, ammunition, and other items believed to have been used in previous criminal activities.
Military sources revealed that the suspects were linked to a string of attacks and robberies targeting residents in nearby communities.
In response, troops have intensified patrols and reinforced security presence across surrounding areas, including Marit and Lajam, as part of ongoing efforts to track down the fleeing members of the group.
Authorities have assured residents that the situation remains under control, with sustained operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace in the region.
