The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has received the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, with both officials seeking stronger collaboration on national values, civic responsibility and crisis prevention.
The NOA Director-General, who paid a courtesy visit to the IGP, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting national values, responsible citizenship and public enlightenment across the country.
Issa-Onilu highlighted the Nigeria Identity Project and the National Values Charter as key initiatives aimed at promoting national cohesion and strengthening citizens’ sense of belonging and responsibility.
He also proposed closer collaboration between the NOA and the Nigeria Police Force in public sensitisation, intelligence sharing and early conflict prevention.
Responding, IGP Disu stressed the importance of professionalism, respect for human dignity and ethical conduct in policing, noting that these values are critical to strengthening public trust and confidence in the police.
The IGP also called for responsible use of social media, urging citizens to verify information before sharing it, particularly in situations where misinformation could fuel tension or conflict.
He further emphasised the importance of promoting positive values among young people as part of efforts to build a more responsible and peaceful society.
Disu reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to sustained collaboration with the National Orientation Agency in promoting national security, responsible citizenship, social cohesion and national development.
