Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo has formally assumed duty as the Commandant of the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Abuja, immediately commencing a comprehensive tour of the Centre’s facilities.

AVM Ilo’s appointment follows a recent strategic redeployment of senior officers by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Amao, as part of efforts to strengthen leadership effectiveness and enhance institutional capacity across the Nigerian Air Force.

Strengthening Institutional Capacity
The leadership transition aligns with the Federal Government’s broader mandate on national security, capacity building, and human capital development within the Armed Forces. Shortly after assuming office, the new Commandant undertook a familiarization tour of NAFRC to assess existing vocational training programmes, workshops, and infrastructure.

The tour provided AVM Ilo with first-hand insight into the Centre’s operations and enabled him to identify priority areas requiring immediate attention, with the goal of further strengthening NAFRC’s core mandate of equipping retiring military personnel with market-relevant skills for successful reintegration into civilian life.

Commandant Outlines Strategic Vision
Addressing personnel and staff during the tour, AVM Ilo outlined a leadership vision anchored on three key pillars: infrastructure development, improved welfare, and excellence in training delivery.

He emphasized the need for sustained investment in modern training facilities, enhanced welfare and working conditions for instructors and trainees, and the creation of a conducive learning environment that would ensure course participants remain competitive in the post-service labour market.

AVM Ilo reaffirmed his commitment to building on existing achievements while positioning NAFRC as a centre of excellence in vocational training and resettlement support for retiring members of the Armed Forces.
