📍Abuja | Media360Impact Report
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has appointed Princess Oforitsenere Emiko as Interim Chairman of the Governing Board of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) as part of efforts to reposition the institute for Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

The appointment forms part of a broader strategic plan aimed at strengthening digital capacity development, technology innovation and skills acquisition within the communications sector.

Princess Emiko will work alongside two newly appointed interim board members Engr. Abraham Oshadami, Executive Commissioner for Technical Services, and Ms. Rimini Makama, Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management.

The interim leadership team is expected to collaborate with the President and Chief Executive Officer of DBI, Mr. David Daser, as well as existing board members whose tenures are still active.

Established by the NCC in 2004, the Digital Bridge Institute was created as a specialised centre for telecommunications and information technology training.

However, with the rapid expansion of Nigeria’s digital economy, the institute is now being repositioned to address emerging challenges in technology development, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity and human capital growth.

The new strategic direction focuses heavily on empowering Nigeria’s youth population with modern digital skills and technical competencies needed to compete in a technology-driven global economy.

Under the renewed framework, DBI will focus on five major areas including Education and Training, Research and Development, Innovation, Economic Growth and Emerging Policy and Regulation.

The framework was developed through consultations with key government institutions including the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the Federal Ministry of Education, TETFund, the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and NASENI.

The NCC said the move reflects its commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and ensuring Nigeria’s communications sector remains aligned with global technological trends and national development priorities.
