USPF Board

📍Abuja, Nigeria
The Federal Government has officially inaugurated the Board of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), a key initiative aimed at expanding access to telecommunications and bridging Nigeria’s digital divide.

The inauguration ceremony took place on March 27, 2026, at the Abuja Intercontinental Hotel, bringing together key stakeholders in the country’s communications and digital economy sector.

The newly inaugurated board is chaired by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, who also serves as Chairman of the USPF Board.

Other members include:
1. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission
2. Idris Olorunnimbe, Chairman of NCC and Vice Chairman of the USPF Board
3. Abraham Oshadami, representing technical services
4. Rimini Makama, representing stakeholder engagement

The USPF is a government-backed initiative designed to extend telecommunications services to underserved and unserved communities across Nigeria, particularly in rural and remote areas where access to digital infrastructure remains limited.

Speaking at the event, stakeholders emphasized the importance of strengthening infrastructure, improving connectivity, and ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in the digital economy.

The newly constituted board is expected to accelerate ongoing efforts to expand broadband penetration, enhance digital access, and support Nigeria’s broader vision of inclusive economic growth through technology.

The initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to driving innovation, improving service delivery, and promoting equal access to communication services nationwide.
