Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on leaders and coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to promote national unity, uphold democratic values, and respect the rule of law as part of efforts to strengthen governance and national development.

The President made the charge during an inaugural meeting with the group held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties and Director of Communications for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Tunde Rahman, Tinubu described the group as a key platform for driving national transformation and social reorientation.

The President urged members to embrace constitutional order and judicial authority, stressing the importance of obeying lawful court decisions regardless of outcome.

“We cannot submit to disobedience of a lawful order of the court; we must embrace the judiciary, whether it favours us or not,” Tinubu was quoted as saying. He further emphasized that adherence to democratic principles, separation of powers, and a shared national vision were essential for achieving sustainable progress.

The meeting was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, and several state governors, including those of Kaduna, Gombe, Yobe, Kebbi, Ebonyi, Delta, Kogi, Ekiti, Benue, Taraba, and Edo States.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, speaking at the meeting, said the group was established to brief the President on progress made and to demonstrate that its nationwide structure was active and effective.

He explained that mobilisation efforts had already begun across regions, targeting communities such as markets, schools, professional groups, women organisations, faith-based groups, and grassroots political structures.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani noted that the initiative had strong potential to reach all parts of the country, stressing the importance of effectively communicating government achievements.Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya expressed confidence in the initiative and called for intensified mobilisation efforts.

Former governors and political leaders present at the meeting also commended the administration’s reforms, including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange adjustments, and the student loan scheme under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which they said had already benefited over one million students.

Other speakers reiterated support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a broad national platform for economic recovery, governance reforms, and political engagement.
