Abuja, Nigeria — The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the security of telecommunications infrastructure across the country through enhanced collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.

This commitment was underscored during a working visit by the Chairman of the NCC Board, Chief Idris Olorunnimbe, and the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.

The meeting focused on deepening inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding critical telecom infrastructure and ensuring effective implementation of the Presidential Order on Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII).

Discussions also centred on improving operational coordination between the NCC and the police in response to rising concerns around vandalism and threats to national telecommunications assets.

Both institutions emphasised the need for stronger collaboration to reinforce Nigeria’s security architecture and protect vital communication systems that support national development and economic stability.

The NCC leadership reiterated that safeguarding telecom infrastructure remains a national priority, especially as digital connectivity continues to play a key role in governance, business operations, and security coordination.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment from both parties to work closely in addressing emerging threats and ensuring the resilience of Nigeria’s communication infrastructure.
