The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a seven-hour preventive maintenance exercise at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The maintenance is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is expected to temporarily disrupt electricity supply to several communities and businesses in parts of Kogi and Edo states.
According to TCN, its technical crew will carry out preventive maintenance on the 162MVA, 330/132kV power transformer, associated switchgear and other ancillary equipment at the substation.
As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive electricity for distribution to customers in Ekirin, Omuo, Ibillo, Akoko, Ogala, Ikare, Magongo, Okene Town, Ayere, Kabba and surrounding areas during the exercise.
Customers supplied by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will also be affected.

The affected BEDC locations include Okpella Town, BUA Cement Company, West African Fertilizer Company, Dibeks Milling Company, Edestein Company, Freedom Group Company, Ososo, Uluoke, Iyora, Apana, Okpekpe, Arigidi, Ikare Town, Lampese, Igara, Oka and surrounding areas.
TCN said electricity supply would be restored to the affected areas once the maintenance work is completed.
The company described the exercise as part of its preventive maintenance programme aimed at ensuring the reliability and efficiency of its transmission infrastructure.
TCN apologised to affected electricity customers for the inconvenience the planned maintenance may cause and appealed for their understanding and cooperation.
