Key stakeholders in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, gathered in Lagos to assess the state of competition in the sector’s voice and data segments.
The forum, held at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, brought together regulators and industry experts, including the Zonal Coordinator of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), South-West Zone, Dr. Olubunmi Otti; the Head of Competition and Tariff at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Mrs. Omotayo Muhammad; and a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Mary Iwelumo.
Discussions at the stakeholders’ meeting centred on the presentation of a comprehensive study evaluating market competition within Nigeria’s telecommunications landscape, with particular emphasis on voice and data services. Participants reviewed prevailing market structures, emerging trends, and the impact of existing regulatory frameworks on competition and consumer outcomes.
Speakers highlighted the need for sustained collaboration among regulators, telecom operators, and professional service firms to address competition-related concerns, safeguard consumer interests, and promote efficiency and long-term growth in the telecommunications sector.
