The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against banditry, following the arrest of four suspected bandits and the recovery of firearms and ammunition in Kaduna State.
The operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), acting on credible intelligence.
The suspects Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40) were apprehended on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area of the state.
Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and a locally fabricated pistol loaded with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are linked to banditry and other violent criminal activities within the region.
Police authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the criminal network and recover additional weapons.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to tackling banditry and safeguarding lives and property nationwide
