ABUJA – The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, has paid glowing tribute to fathers across Nigeria and around the world, describing fatherhood as a noble responsibility built on love, sacrifice, commitment, and unwavering dedication to family.
In a Father’s Day message, Shaibu said fathers play a critical role in shaping the character of children, strengthening families, and building peaceful and prosperous communities.
According to him, fatherhood goes beyond providing material support for the family, emphasizing that fathers are expected to offer guidance, discipline, mentorship, and moral leadership that help raise responsible future generations.
“Fatherhood is a journey of selfless love, silent sacrifices, commitment, and countless prayers offered for the well-being and success of our children.

It is a calling that demands strength in difficult times, wisdom in moments of uncertainty, and enduring devotion to family,” he said.
The NIS Director-General commended fathers who continue to work tirelessly to support their families despite prevailing economic and social challenges, noting that their resilience and dedication remain essential to societal growth and stability.
Shaibu also urged fathers to remain positive role models by instilling values such as integrity, hard work, respect, compassion, and responsibility in their children.
He stressed that strong family values remain vital to national development, adding that fathers have a significant role to play in nurturing a generation capable of contributing meaningfully to the country’s progress.
“As we celebrate Father’s Day, I encourage all fathers to continue leading by example and strengthening the moral foundations of our families and communities,” he added.
Shaibu concluded by praying for God’s blessings upon fathers, asking for good health, wisdom, strength, and grace for them to continue fulfilling their responsibilities with joy and purpose.
He wished fathers across Nigeria a happy and fulfilling Father’s Day celebration.
