The Director-General of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, has commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its outstanding contributions to national development, youth empowerment, rural transformation, healthcare delivery, and educational advancement over the past 53 years.
Ali also praised the commitment and dedication of both serving and former Corps Members who have served at NAN, describing their contributions to the agency as invaluable and unforgettable.
The NAN Director-General gave the commendation while hosting the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

He further applauded General Nafiu’s leadership since assuming office, noting that the NYSC Scheme has continued to record progress under his administration.
According to Ali, the media has a vital role to play in promoting national development through responsible and developmental journalism.
He stated that NAN remains committed to projecting African narratives and stories that positively reflect Nigeria to the global audience.
Responding, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, appreciated NAN for its consistent and objective reportage of the Scheme’s activities over the years.
He expressed optimism that the partnership and collaboration between both organisations would continue to grow stronger.
General Nafiu also reaffirmed NYSC’s commitment to consolidating on its achievements through innovative programmes and initiatives aimed at enhancing national development.

The visit highlighted the longstanding relationship between NAN and NYSC, particularly in promoting youth development and national unity.
