The Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extends warm congratulations and best wishes to His Excellency, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Zambia on the occasion of their 61st Independence Anniversary.

This was contained in a statement signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja on
Friday, 24th October, 2025

The statement reads: On this historic day, we join our Zambian brothers and sisters in celebrating decades of sovereignty, self-determination, and remarkable national progress. Nigeria recalls with great pride the shared struggles and solidarity that defined the fight for liberation across our continent. The journey of self-determination to Zambia’s steadfast role as a beacon of peace and stability in the Southern African region, is a source of immense inspiration.

The bilateral relations between Nigeria and Zambia are deeply rooted in a common history, mutual respect, and a shared vision for a prosperous Africa. Our partnership, forged in the halls of the Organisation of African Unity and now strengthened within the African Union and the Commonwealth, continues to grow across various spheres including trade, education, and professional exchange.

Therefore as you mark this significant independence anniversary, Nigeria commends the resilience and hardworking spirit of the Zambian people. We are confident that this milestone will herald a new era of even greater achievements and shared prosperity for your nation.

The Government of Nigeria reiterates its commitment to deepening the cordial ties and collaboration between our two nations, as we work together to advance the ideals of Pan-Africanism and address the common challenges of our time.
