Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two Europe-based Nigerian businessmen after they allegedly swallowed and attempted to smuggle 200 wraps of cocaine through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The suspects, who reportedly live in Europe, had travelled to Nigeria for a holiday and were preparing to return to Paris, France, when NDLEA operatives intercepted them.
According to the agency, the two men were placed under observation after they were suspected of ingesting cocaine for international trafficking.
They subsequently excreted a combined total of 200 wraps of cocaine.
The arrests formed part of a series of anti-drug operations conducted by NDLEA operatives across the country.
In another operation, the agency intercepted a woman allegedly transporting 266 rounds of AK-47 ammunition along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

NDLEA also reported the seizure of large consignments of suspected illicit drugs during enforcement operations in Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Ondo, Oyo and Edo states.
The operations highlight the agency’s continuing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks and prevent the movement of illegal substances and other prohibited items across Nigeria.
The NDLEA is yet to provide further details in the information supplied about the identities of the two airport suspects, the exact quantity of cocaine by weight or the circumstances surrounding the ammunition interception.
