The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, paid a courtesy visit to Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Abuja.
Governor Makinde expressed appreciation on behalf of the Government and people of Oyo State for the crucial role the NAF continues to play in enhancing security and supporting development within the state.
He also congratulated Air Marshal Aneke on his appointment as the 23rd Chief of the Air Staff, praising his leadership in strengthening air operations nationwide. Makinde highlighted the NAF’s airlift support during Oyo State’s 50th Anniversary celebration as a notable example of effective civil-military cooperation.
The Governor noted that the NAF Detachment in Ibadan is an active member of the State Security Council, contributing meaningfully to intelligence sharing and coordinated responses. He assured the CAS of the state government’s continued accessibility and support to advance shared security objectives.
Air Marshal Aneke welcomed Governor Makinde and congratulated the people of Oyo State on their Golden Jubilee celebrations. He praised the ongoing infrastructure transformation in Ibadan, noting its contribution to South-West security architecture and as a platform for projecting air power.

The CAS also acknowledged the State
Government’s support, including:
Land allocation at Ibadan Airport for a Forward Operating Base
Provision of land for a new NAF Base at Ajia
Financial assistance for new barracks construction
Air Marshal Aneke reaffirmed that the partnership between the NAF and Oyo State Government is vital to safeguarding lives, protecting property, and promoting sustainable development in the region.
