📍 Abuja | Media360Impact Report

The people of Amasiri have dismissed recent reports suggesting the community plans to attack Nigerian soldiers deployed in the area.
In a statement issued by community representatives, they categorically denied the allegations, stressing that Amasiri has not attacked, attempted to attack, or planned to attack any security personnel.

This was contained in a statement signed by
Princess Joy Omagha Idam On behalf of Amasiri Communities

According to the statement, the community describes itself as law-abiding and peace-oriented, with full respect for the constitutional role of security agencies.
Leaders expressed concern over unverified voice recordings circulating on social media, which are being misused to attribute criminal intent to the entire community.

They urged that such materials undergo independent forensic verification before being considered evidence.
The statement also called on the Ebonyi State Government, led by Governor Francis Nwifuru, and all security agencies to rely strictly on verified intelligence and professional rules of engagement.

“Amasiri has not thrown pebbles at soldiers. Any individual found engaging in unlawful activity should be held accountable personally, not collectively. Peace and lawful engagement remain our priority,” the statement read.

Why this matters
Unverified claims can escalate tensions, undermine trust between communities and security agencies, and put lives at risk. Responsible reporting and verification are crucial to maintaining peace and stability in conflict-sensitive areas.

The community reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful cooperation with authorities and appealed to all parties to avoid inflammatory actions or statement
