The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies, has rescued 20 prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who were abducted in Imo State.
The prospective corps members were abducted on October 1, 2026, and were rescued on October 7 at Amakohia Ubi Village in Imo State, according to the police.
The rescue followed sustained search-and-rescue operations involving the police and other security agencies.
The victims have since been taken for medical assessment and necessary medical care following their release.
The police said efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
Security agencies are also continuing coordinated operations aimed at bringing all persons connected to the incident to justice.
The Nigeria Police Force thanked members of the public for their cooperation and support during the rescue operation.

The Force also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, responding promptly to security threats and strengthening collaboration with other security agencies.
