The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a two-day scheduled maintenance exercise at its Ijebu-Ode Transmission Substation in Ogun State, with some communities expected to experience temporary power disruptions.

The annual preventive maintenance will be carried out on the T1 and T2 30MVA, 132/33kV power transformers on Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9, 2026.

The exercise will take place between 10:00am and 5:00pm each day, with engineers working on one transformer per day.

According to TCN, the maintenance is part of routine checks and servicing aimed at improving the performance, reliability and operational efficiency of the transformers.

Areas affected Thursday

On Thursday, October 8, maintenance will be carried out on the T1 30MVA transformer.

TCN said the exercise will affect electricity supply to Ijebu-Ode and Idowa, as the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to receive power from the affected transformer during the maintenance period.

Areas affected Friday

On Friday, October 9, engineers will carry out maintenance on the T2 30MVA transformer.

The exercise will affect electricity supply to Ijebu-Igbo and Barracks during the scheduled maintenance period.

TCN said bulk power supply to each transformer will be restored at the end of its respective maintenance day.

The company explained that the exercise is necessary to ensure the transformers continue to operate reliably and efficiently.

TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience the temporary disruption may cause.
