Nigeria Police, U.S. INL Review Strategic Partnership on Policing and Internal Security
Abuja — The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has received a delegation from the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, as both parties reviewed ongoing cooperation and explored avenues to strengthen their strategic policing partnership.

The delegation, led by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of INL, Ms. Maggie Nardi, included Mr. Jacob Wright, Senior Advisor at INL, and Mr. Grane Douglas, Acting Director of INL Abuja. The visit focused on enhancing institutional collaboration in policing and internal security development.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, discussions centred on expanding specialised training programmes, improving operational capacity, and deepening institutional engagement between the Nigeria Police Force and the INL.

Ms. Nardi reaffirmed the INL’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police through increased technical assistance, advanced training initiatives, and the provision of modern operational equipment. She emphasised the importance of sustained partnership in strengthening institutional capacity and improving law enforcement effectiveness.

In his response, IGP Egbetokun expressed appreciation for the continued support of the INL, particularly in tactical capacity development. He highlighted the positive impact of INL-supported training on the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), noting significant improvements in professionalism, discipline, and operational performance.

The Inspector-General further reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to deepening collaboration with the INL and other international partners, while adopting global best practices to enhance service delivery and strengthen public safety across the country.
