The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has been honoured with the Award of Excellence in Capacity Building and Staff Welfare by the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN).

This was contained in a statement signed Kayode Adegoke Head, Corporate Communications Unit Abuja, Nigeria November 28, 2025

The award, approved by the National Executive Council (NEC) of ASCSN, recognises Engr. Coker-Odusote’s exemplary leadership and sustained commitment to staff development, welfare, and institutional transformation within the Commission. She was also recently honoured by the Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) with an Innovation in Service Delivery Award, in recognition of the notable innovations and improved service outcomes recorded under her leadership.

Since assuming office, the NIMC boss has driven a bold and inclusive five-point agenda, with capacity building and staff welfare as key pillars. Major achievements recorded under her leadership include the promotion of over 3,000 staff, the implementation of a 25–30 per cent salary increment approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the rollout of comprehensive training programmes for staff at all levels. These have been complemented by executive retreats, management workshops, and other staff-focused initiatives.

In alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda, Engr. Coker-Odusote has also overseen the distribution of over 2,500 computer systems to strengthen National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment, equipping strategic departments with modern workstations in line with global best practices. Additional welfare measures include the introduction of free staff bus services, a new staff car park initiative, and facilitation of access to national food palliatives to cushion prevailing economic pressures.

Her open-door policy and proactive engagement with labour unions have fostered mutual trust and collaboration, setting a new benchmark for leadership in the public service. The ASCSN described the award as a testament to her “rare sincerity and sensitivity to the yearnings of workers,” commending her policies for improving working conditions, enhancing productivity, and strengthening social dialogue.

The award underscores not only past achievements but also a renewed commitment to sustaining excellence in public service delivery.
