ABUJA, October 30, 2025 — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced significant progress in the ongoing registration process for new political parties, confirming that eight out of the fourteen pre-qualified associations have successfully completed the upload of their required documents.

The update, contained in a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, mni, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, followed the Commission’s regular meeting held on Thursday, 30th October 2025.

According to the statement, INEC had earlier briefed the 14 pre-qualified political associations on Tuesday, 17th September 2025, before opening a dedicated online portal for document uploads, which ran from Wednesday, 18th September to Friday, 18th October 2025 (midnight).

By the close of the submission window, eight (8) associations had completed their documentation process. They include:

  1. All Democratic Alliance (ADA)
  2. Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA)
  3. Abundance Social Party (ASP)
  4. African Alliance Party (AAP)
  5. Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA)
  6. Green Future Party (GFP)
  7. National Democratic Party (NDP)
  8. Peoples Freedom Party (PFP)

INEC stated that the next phase of the process will involve a comprehensive assessment and verification of all submitted materials to ensure compliance with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the Commission’s Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties (2022).

The Commission reiterated its commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and the deepening of Nigeria’s democratic culture, assuring that all processes will be conducted with fairness and adherence to due process.

“INEC remains steadfast in promoting a transparent and inclusive political environment that allows credible associations to contribute to the country’s democratic development,” the statement concluded.
