The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration and civic partnership in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
General Musa made this known at the closing ceremony of Exercise Haske Biyu 2025, held at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State, where he was the special guest of honour.
He said that national insecurity could be effectively tackled when security agencies, government institutions, and citizens work together to create a safe and secure environment.
Highlighting the theme of this year’s exercise, “Family and National Security,” the CDS noted that families play a crucial role in shaping values, discipline, and patriotism, which form the bedrock of national security. He therefore urged the armed forces and other security agencies to strengthen synergy and collaboration in safeguarding the country.
The Commandant of AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Idris Alhaji, explained that Exercise Haske Biyu was designed to mobilise both human and material resources to stimulate dialogue and generate solutions to security concerns.
According to him, the family remains the nucleus of every society, providing the moral, ethical, and patriotic foundation necessary for building national resilience.
Looking ahead, Air Vice Marshal Alhaji announced that Exercise Haske Biyu 2026 will build on the achievements recorded this year and will be broadened to include all three arms of government, as well as other critical stakeholders, to deepen the scope and outcomes of the exercise.
The three-week programme drew 611 participants, including 395 students of Senior Course 47—with representatives from 14 African countries—and 215 external participants from security agencies and selected ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
