The National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) has expressed its profound appreciation to the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Bassey Otu, for signing the Cross River State Senior Citizens Centre Bill into law.
In an official statement, NSCC Director General, Dr. Emem Omokaro, described the legislative development as a significant milestone towards safeguarding the rights of older persons and enhancing their access to health, economic, and social services across the state.
The statement, signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Media, and Communications, Mr. Omini Oden, commended Governor Otu’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to social inclusion, acknowledging the vital contributions of senior citizens to the socio-economic growth of Cross River State.
Dr. Omokaro noted that the law establishes a robust framework aimed at addressing the specific needs and concerns of senior citizens, ensuring their dignity, protection, and well-being. She further expressed optimism that the NSCC will work closely with the Cross River State Government to facilitate the effective implementation of the law, guaranteeing that its promises are fully realized.

“This is a testament to Governor Otu’s dedication to promoting the quality of life of older persons. We are confident that this step will pave the way for more inclusive policies that recognize the value and contributions of senior citizens,” Dr. Omokaro stated.
