The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday, marking the Christian celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the announcement on Tuesday on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulating Christians across the country on the Easter celebration.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister emphasized the significance of the season, urging Nigerians to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, love, and hope exemplified by Jesus Christ.
He called on citizens to use the holiday period to pray for the peace, unity, and stability of the nation, noting that these virtues are critical to national development.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at driving growth, inclusion, and national transformation.
He further encouraged Nigerians to demonstrate love and compassion to one another through acts of kindness and generosity during the festive season.
The Minister concluded by wishing all Christians a joyful Easter and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
