The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a woman, identified as Mrs Beauty Monday, for allegedly pouring boiling water on her neighbour during an argument over the use of a shared compound space in Lugbe, Abuja.
The incident reportedly occurred on September 4, 2026, during an argument between Monday and the victim, Gift Amos.
According to a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, Amos reported the incident at the Lugbe Police Division on September 6 at about 3:30 p.m.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the dispute started after Amos moved Monday’s pot of boiling water from a stove to an area of the compound allocated to her.
The action reportedly angered Monday, who allegedly retrieved the pot and poured the boiling water on Amos’ back.
The victim sustained serious burns and other injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

The police said Monday was subsequently arraigned before a court and remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
The case has been adjourned until September 16, 2026, for hearing.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, urged residents to embrace peaceful coexistence and exercise restraint when resolving disagreements.
He warned residents against resorting to violence or self-help, stressing the importance of using lawful and peaceful channels to settle disputes.
The Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines.
