Chikun State Assembly Aspirant Says State Government Must Act Now, Not Wait on Federal Intervention
Chikun, Kaduna State – Dr. Najib Zakari, who is contesting under the NDC party for Chikun Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, has strongly condemned the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State. He is calling on the state governor to take immediate and decisive action to secure their release.
In a statement released to the media, Dr. Najib stressed that time is critical in rescue operations and urged the governor to mobilize all security resources without delay.
“Waiting for national intervention is like waiting for hopelessness,” he said. “The lives of our children and teachers cannot be delayed while we expect answers from Abuja.”

The NDC candidate argued that Nigerians must demand accountability from state governments on internal security instead of depending on what he described as a failing federal structure. He said proactive leadership at the state level is the only way communities can feel safe.
Turning to the coming elections, Dr. Najib advised voters in Chikun and across Kaduna State to protect their votes and reject vote-buying.
“Be wise when you vote,” he warned. “Any politician offering you rice and Maggi is trading your future for a meal. Your vote is your power. Do not sell it cheap.”
His comments come amid rising public concern over school abductions and electoral integrity. Dr. Najib, contesting under the NDC party, said his campaign will prioritize urgent local action and accountability over bureaucratic delay.
