Abuja — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a fresh public safety advisory urging residents to remain vigilant and adopt safer commuting habits in order to curb the rising threat of “one chance” robbery syndicates operating within Abuja.

In a statement attributed to the command, residents were reminded that personal safety is a shared responsibility between the public and security agencies, calling for stronger cooperation to identify and report suspicious vehicles and criminal activity.

The police advised commuters to make use of only authorized motor parks and avoid boarding taxis picked up from unauthorized locations or roadside points. Residents were also urged to be cautious of vehicles not properly identified with the approved Abuja taxi colour coding and markings.

According to the advisory, passengers should pay close attention to the condition of vehicles and the behavior of other occupants before boarding. The Command further cautioned against distractions, especially excessive phone use while entering or inside commercial vehicles, as this can reduce alertness and increase vulnerability.

Women and other vulnerable commuters were particularly advised to exercise extra caution when boarding taxis and to remain observant of their surroundings at all times.
The Command stressed that in the event of any suspicious activity or emergency, residents should avoid silence and promptly report to the nearest police station.

Emergency contact numbers provided by the FCT Police Command include: 0803 200 3913 and 0705 733 7653.

The advisory reinforces ongoing efforts by the FCT Police Command and the Nigeria Police Force to combat “one chance” robbery operations and improve public safety across Abuja.

Residents were encouraged to stay alert, report suspicious movements, and support law enforcement efforts in keeping the capital safe.
