📍Abuja | Media Report
The Federal Government has officially opened applications for the second cohort of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, targeting Nigerian youth with practical, job-ready skills.

The initiative, announced by the Federal Ministry of Education, commenced on Monday, April 13, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen technical capacity and reduce unemployment across the country.

Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the programme as a key component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing its role in driving human capital development and sustainable livelihoods.

According to the minister, the programme is designed to equip participants with industry-relevant skills that encourage self-employment, innovation, and long-term economic growth.

“In strengthening this programme, the Federal Government is investing in the productive capacity of our youth. By providing practical training and recognised certification, we are creating pathways for self-employment and national development,” he stated.

As part of its expansion strategy, the Ministry is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism to incorporate training in creative and cultural industries, opening up new opportunities within Nigeria’s growing creative economy.

The TVET programme offers six-month and one-year hands-on training across accredited centres in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Participants will receive a monthly stipend of ₦22,500, along with a nationally recognised certificate upon successful completion.

Training areas include construction, ICT, automotive technology, agriculture, creative media, fashion, cosmetology, tourism, catering, and leather works.

Applicants are required to demonstrate commitment throughout the programme, with attendance monitored through biometric systems. Stipends will only be paid to participants who meet attendance requirements.
Interested candidates must provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) during registration.

The ministry encouraged eligible Nigerians to apply via the official portal and take advantage of the opportunity to gain practical skills and improve their economic prospects.
