šŸ“Ibadan | Media360Impact Report

Fresh tension has emerged following the circulation of alleged demands reportedly issued by kidnappers linked to the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State.

The unverified demands, currently making rounds on social media, claim the abductors are requesting ₦1 billion ransom, the release of suspected bandits allegedly detained in Agodi and Abolongo correctional facilities, two Toyota Hilux vehicles, and other controversial conditions reportedly tied to land concessions and Sharia-related considerations.

According to the viral message, the kidnappers allegedly asked the Oyo State Government to pay the ransom into an account based in the Benin Republic.

As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government and security agencies have not officially confirmed the authenticity of the circulating demands.

The development has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the growing insecurity and repeated attacks targeting schools and communities across parts of the country.

Security experts have repeatedly warned against the public spread of unverified claims during sensitive kidnapping situations, noting that such information could heighten fear and complicate rescue operations.

Residents and parents in Oyo State continue to anxiously await official updates regarding efforts to secure the safe return of the abducted victims.
