The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has explored a potential partnership with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria to strengthen personnel capacity, professional development and operational efficiency in the Nigeria Police Force.

Disu discussed the proposed collaboration on Monday, October 19, 2026, when he received CILT Nigeria’s National President and Chairman of Council, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, and members of his delegation at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting focused on areas of mutual interest, including personnel training, logistics management, professional development and knowledge sharing.

According to the IGP, partnerships with professional institutions could help strengthen the capacity of police personnel, improve service delivery and promote higher professional standards within the Force.

He appreciated the delegation for the visit and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to building meaningful relationships with professional organisations to enhance its operational effectiveness.

The discussions also highlighted opportunities for CILT Nigeria to contribute its expertise in logistics and transport management to support more efficient policing operations.

Effective logistics management is important to police operations, including the movement of personnel, deployment of equipment and coordination of resources. Professional training and knowledge sharing could also help improve how these resources are managed.

The engagement signals an interest in closer cooperation between the police and professional bodies to develop personnel skills and strengthen institutional capacity.

However, the meeting was described as an exploration of potential areas of collaboration. No specific agreement, implementation timeline or details of a formal partnership were provided in the information released.

Any eventual partnership would need to translate these discussions into practical training opportunities, improved logistics systems and measurable gains in police service delivery.
