TCN Announces Urgent Maintenance at Katampe Transmission Substation, Power Supply to Be Affected
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced urgent maintenance work at its 330/132/33kV Katampe Transmission Substation in Abuja, with some electricity supply circuits expected to be affected.
According to a statement signed by TCN Management on Saturday, September 5, 2026, the maintenance became necessary to enable its technical crew to seal an oil leakage from one of the transformers at the substation.
The exercise is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
TCN said some circuits would be impacted during the maintenance, affecting the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to take off electricity from some feeders supplying customers connected to the affected transformer.
The company noted that electricity consumers in some areas may therefore experience a temporary interruption in power supply while the maintenance work is ongoing.
TCN apologised to affected electricity consumers for the inconvenience the temporary interruption may cause and assured the public that the maintenance is necessary to address the transformer oil leakage.
