The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called on Nigerians to uphold faith in God and demonstrate patriotism to the country as Muslims across the nation celebrate Eid al-Adha.
Issa-Onilu said the significance of Eid al-Adha goes beyond celebration, noting that the season serves as a reminder of the values of sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and peaceful coexistence needed to strengthen national unity and development.
In a statement issued by the agency, the NOA boss urged citizens to remain committed to mutual respect, tolerance, and collective responsibility in order to build a more peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
According to him, the lessons of Eid al-Adha remain highly relevant to the country’s current realities, especially at a time when Nigerians are expected to promote peace, discipline, and understanding across ethnic and religious lines.

He encouraged Muslims to emulate the devotion and obedience demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim through acts of kindness, charity, and support for vulnerable members of society during the festive period.
While acknowledging ongoing government efforts to tackle insecurity, Issa-Onilu appealed to Nigerians to avoid actions capable of disrupting public peace and unity before, during, and after the celebrations.
He further called on community leaders, religious organisations, and youth groups to support initiatives aimed at promoting civic responsibility, patriotism, and social harmony across the country.
The NOA Director-General stressed that sustainable national development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, unity, and shared commitment to the nation’s progress.
He also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to continuous public enlightenment campaigns designed to encourage patriotism, active citizenship, and national cohesion.
Issa-Onilu wished Muslims a peaceful and rewarding Eid al-Adha celebration, expressing hope that the spirit of sacrifice and togetherness associated with the season would inspire Nigerians to work collectively towards a better nation.
