📍Abuja | Media360Impact Report
The Federal Government has inaugurated chairmen of boards of agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education, alongside principal officers of selected tertiary institutions, as part of ongoing reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s education sector.

The inauguration, held at the TETFund Auditorium in Maitama, Abuja, also featured the reappointment of chief executive officers of some education agencies and the establishment of a facility-sharing committee between the Federal University of Technology, Minna (Bosso Campus) and Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’idu Ahmad, said the ceremony marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to reposition the education sector for improved service delivery, credibility, and global competitiveness.

She noted that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, education remains a priority, with reforms aimed at expanding access, improving quality, and strengthening institutional performance.

According to her, agencies such as the National Examinations Council (NECO) are enhancing examination credibility through technology, while the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) is advancing technical and vocational education through modernised curricula and stronger industry alignment.

She added that the government is also revitalising polytechnic education to promote hands-on learning, skills certification, and employability among Nigerian youths.

Professor Ahmad explained that the reappointed chief executive officers were selected in recognition of their competence and are expected to consolidate ongoing reforms across their agencies.

The Minister also announced the constitution of a committee on facility sharing between FUT Minna and IBB University Lapai. The committee is tasked with developing a framework for the temporary use of academic and clinical facilities to support medical students, particularly for accreditation exercises.

She said the initiative is aimed at ensuring that students have access to essential training facilities without disrupting the mandates of host institutions, while also promoting inter-institutional collaboration and efficient use of national assets.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to improving access to quality education, strengthening institutional capacity, and ensuring the education system meets global standards.

Stakeholders were urged to support the new committees and leadership structures to ensure successful implementation of the reforms.
