Nigeria and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in tourism, hospitality, culture, and the creative economy as both countries seek deeper partnerships for economic growth and cultural exchange.
Stakeholders at a recent engagement highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration in tourism development, workforce training, research, technology transfer, and destination marketing to improve Nigeria’s global tourism competitiveness.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) said the NIHOTOUR Act 2022 has repositioned the institute to play a more active role in regulating and professionalising Nigeria’s hospitality and tourism industry.
The NIHOTOUR boss stressed that stronger partnerships with China would help attract investment into Nigeria’s tourism sector while creating opportunities for skills development and innovation.
Participants at the event expressed optimism about the future of Nigeria-China relations, particularly in tourism and the creative economy, noting that enhanced cooperation would promote cultural understanding, economic development, and stronger people-to-people connections between both nations.
The celebration concluded with cultural performances and interactive sessions showcasing the longstanding friendship and shared aspirations between Nigeria and China.
