The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned newly completed accommodation and recreational facilities in Abuja as part of efforts to improve personnel welfare, strengthen morale and enhance operational effectiveness.
The projects were commissioned on September 4, 2026, by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.
The facilities include Airmen’s Quarters at Mogadishu Cantonment and Abacha Road, the 065 Medical Officer’s Quarters, and the NAF Valley Base Sports Complex in Asokoro.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremonies, Aneke described the projects as a significant milestone in the NAF’s ongoing efforts to improve the living conditions, physical well-being and overall effectiveness of its personnel.
He stressed that adequate accommodation and recreational facilities are important to maintaining personnel morale, cohesion, physical fitness and operational readiness.
The Chief of the Air Staff also disclosed that the NAF is working towards developing a sustainable formula for affordable homeownership for its personnel and their families.
According to him, the newly commissioned accommodation blocks have been named after officers and airmen who either paid the supreme price or distinguished themselves gallantly in the operational theatre.
He said the gesture was aimed at preserving their legacies and inspiring future generations of NAF personnel.
Aneke commended everyone who contributed to the completion of the projects and urged beneficiaries to ensure that the facilities are properly maintained and judiciously used.
He reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to providing a well-supported and motivated force capable of effectively carrying out its operational responsibilities.
