The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, marking the third and final phase of the process.

According to the Commission, the exercise will begin on May 11, 2026, and end on July 10, 2026.
INEC disclosed this in a press statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the final phase follows the temporary suspension of the second phase on April 17, 2026. The pause, it explained,

allowed for the clean-up of the voter register after its publication for claims and objections.
The Commission said the exercise is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the credibility and integrity of Nigeria’s electoral database ahead of upcoming elections.

Eligible Nigerians, particularly those who have recently turned 18 or were unable to register during earlier phases, have been urged to take advantage of this final window to enroll.

INEC also stated that already registered voters can use the opportunity to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and correct errors in their personal information.

To ease the process, the Commission has maintained a hybrid registration system, combining an online pre-registration portal with physical registration at its offices across all states and local government areas.

This, INEC noted, is designed to improve access and reduce congestion at registration centres.
Furthermore, the updated Register of Voters will be displayed for public scrutiny from July 23 to July 29, 2026. During this period, citizens will be able to file claims and objections to ensure accuracy and transparency in the voter register.

INEC reassured Nigerians that all necessary logistics and operational arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth exercise nationwide.

Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, emphasized the importance of public participation, urging citizens to fulfill their civic responsibility by registering and verifying their details within the stipulated timeframe.
