The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reaffirmed its emergency response capacity following a multiple-vehicle crash along the busy AYA–Nyanya expressway in the Federal Capital Territory.

The incident, which occurred near the Kugbo Furniture Market axis at about 4:48 p.m. on Monday, involved six vehicles, including two tippers, a commercial bus, and private cars.

According to the Corps, rescue operatives from the Zebra 12 Unit arrived at the scene within minutes of receiving a distress call and immediately commenced rescue operations.

In a coordinated effort, officers successfully extricated a trapped victim from one of the severely damaged vehicles and administered first aid before evacuating him to the National Hospital Abuja for further treatment.

A total of 39 persons were involved in the crash, with two male victims sustaining injuries ranging from bruises to fractures.

FRSC personnel also carried out traffic control and recovery operations, preventing gridlock along the busy corridor and restoring normal traffic flow. Vehicles involved in the crash were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives through rapid response and urged motorists particularly heavy-duty vehicle drivers to adhere to speed limits and proper lane discipline.
