Abuja — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified enforcement against vehicles with tinted windows and concealed number plates, impounding more than 30 vehicles across Abuja.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Abuja, saying the operation is part of renewed efforts to strengthen security and reduce criminal activities within the nation’s capital.
According to the police commissioner, intelligence reports revealed that vehicles with heavily tinted windows and covered number plates are frequently used by criminal elements to evade identification during operations.
He explained that the enforcement exercise is aimed at improving public safety and assisting security agencies in tracking suspicious activities across the FCT.
“The use of tinted vehicles and covered number plates poses serious security concerns because they are often used to conceal the identities of individuals involved in criminal activities,” Muhammed stated.
He warned motorists against violating the directive, stressing that offenders would be prosecuted in line with the law.
Muhammed further revealed that more than 30 vehicles had already been impounded since the commencement of the operation.
The commissioner appealed to Abuja residents to cooperate with security agencies by ensuring their vehicles comply with legal requirements.
He also confirmed the arrest of suspected kidnappers linked to criminal operations within the FCT, assuring residents that the police command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
The latest enforcement drive comes amid intensified efforts by security agencies to strengthen crime prevention and improve public safety across Abuja.
