Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has condemned the recent mass abduction of members of his community in Kogi State, describing the worsening insecurity across Nigeria as alarming and unacceptable.
Adeyanju accused the Federal Government of failing to decisively tackle terrorism and criminal activities ravaging different parts of the country. According to him, the continued movement of terrorists and armed gangs across states without resistance raises serious concerns about the country’s security structure.
The activist alleged that the administration of President Bola Tinubu appears more focused on political interests ahead of future elections rather than addressing the growing insecurity affecting ordinary Nigerians.

He further criticised the repeated negotiations with terrorist groups and the payment of ransom by both state and non-state actors, warning that such actions are encouraging the spread of terrorism across the country.
Adeyanju stressed that the failure to arrest and prosecute perpetrators after kidnappings and ransom payments has emboldened criminal groups, allowing insecurity to spread “like wildfire” across Nigeria.
He called on the government and security agencies to take urgent and decisive action to protect citizens and restore public confidence in the nation’s security system.
