The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has condemned the recent killing of a Nigerian citizen in South Africa, calling for justice and stronger protection for Nigerians living abroad.
Her reaction follows the arraignment of three South African suspects before the Pretoria Central Magistrate Court in connection with the murder of a Nigerian driver.

Those brought before the court include Dikeledi Mphela, Gotseone Machidi, and McClaren Mushwana. Authorities disclosed that a fourth suspect has voluntarily turned himself in.

The court proceedings reportedly drew large crowds of Nigerians and South Africans, who gathered outside in solidarity and welcomed the suspects’ appearance in court.

Dabiri-Erewa expressed concern over what she described as a disturbing pattern of criminal attacks and killings involving Nigerians in South Africa. She urged that the case be pursued diligently to ensure justice is served.

She also called for sustained collaboration between Nigerian and South African authorities to safeguard lives and prevent further incidents.
The latest development has renewed discussions about the safety of Nigerians in the diaspora and the need for stronger diplomatic and legal protections for citizens abroad.
