The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, received in audience the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nigeria, His Excellency Yu Dunhai, for a high-level diplomatic engagement aimed at advancing Nigeria–China strategic cooperation.

This was contained in a statement signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.

During the meeting, both sides conducted a comprehensive review of existing bilateral relations and exchanged perspectives on key global and regional developments. Ambassador Yu commended Nigeria’s leadership role in West Africa and aligned with Minister Tuggar’s concerns over the mischaracterisation of regional crises, reaffirming China’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s security, sovereignty, and long-term stability.

Discussions also focused on broadening areas of cooperation, with priority placed on industrialisation, the exploration and processing of rare earth and critical minerals, technology transfer, migration management, and capacity-building initiatives. The two diplomats additionally examined China’s proposed “process solutions,” emerging investment interests, and potential collaborations across the energy, manufacturing, and economic transformation sectors.

Both sides agreed that the bilateral agreements currently under review are central to unlocking new opportunities for growth. They reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening Nigeria–China relations for the shared benefit and prosperity of the citizens of both nations.
